The movement is initiated and organized  by NGO SUNSPIRIT FOR JUSTICE AND PEACE (http://forjusticeandpeace. wordpress.com) as part of our community empowerment efforts to overcome the problems of poverty and inequality in Indonesia.

Since 2009, Baku Peduli — in partnership with Sanata Dharma  University in Yograkarta (USD) — support 10 students (4 Male, 6 Female) from the area of Laktutus,   Belu District, Nusa Tenggara Timur Province to study  in The Faculty of Teaching and Education in the University, to prepare them to become teachers and promoters of social change in their own communities.

As part of its community service/social responsibility program,  Sanata Dharma University is generously providing 50% scholarship (i.e. tuition fee) for these 10 students. Baku Peduli is organizing fundraising to cover  the other 50% of tuition fee costs, computer, books, living expenses, and accommodation in Yogyakarta.

In the upcoming years, the Baku Peduli Program, will be ‘multiplied’ in other rural areas in East Indonesia. As it is a ‘solidarity program’, Baku Peduli needs our support to make the dream for better East Indonesia come true.
